David Lichodziejewski (Leo), PMP has a comprehensive work experience in the aerospace industry. David is currently the Director of the Space Business Unit at Airborne Systems, where they are responsible for overseeing the operations and growth of the company's CEV Parachute Assembly System (CPAS) program for Jacobs and NASA. David has successfully managed the development of a complex human-rated descent and landing system for NASA's flagship ORION program, with the program's scope expanding from $24M to $85M. Additionally, they managed the highly successful IRVE-3 space flight experiment for NASA's Hypersonic Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator (HIAD) program.
Prior to their role at Airborne Systems, Leo worked at L'Garde Inc. as a Program Manager and Principal Investigator. David led a multi-million dollar program with NASA to develop and ground test Solar Sails for advanced space propulsion. This involved managing commercial and government personnel in a matrix structure across the country.
Before joining L'Garde Inc., Leo worked at Rockwell International as an Aerodynamicist. David conducted conceptual and preliminary design and analysis of SSTO hypersonic vehicles, including wind tunnel testing at NASA Ames. David also developed a computational parametric design technique and program for the concurrent optimization of flight vehicle aerodynamic and geometric properties.
Leo's early career involved working at Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Wind Tunnel Test Engineer. David managed various wind tunnel tests in government and commercial facilities across the country, including weapons separation, propulsion, stability and control, ground effect, and spin. David directed engineers and technicians from diverse technical disciplines to fulfill test requirements.
Overall, Leo's work experience showcases their expertise in program management, technical analysis, and leadership in the aerospace industry.
David Lichodziejewski (Leo), PMP, has a strong educational background in aerospace engineering. David completed their Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan from 1979 to 1984. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Southern California from 1989 to 1991.
David also received their private pilot certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration in 2007. In 2013, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Additionally, David attended Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory from 1975 to 1979, although the specific degree and field of study are unknown for this institution.
