Marcus Samuel has a diverse work experience in the field of biological sciences and academia. Marcus worked at the University of Calgary from 2008 to present, initially as an Assistant Professor and later as an Associate Professor. Currently, they hold the position of Professor and Director of Greenhouse Operations at the same university. In 2019, Marcus served as the President of the Canadian Multicultural Network and as the CEO and Director of the Canada Peace Foundation, both non-profit organizations. Recently, they joined AgGene as the Chief Scientific Officer in 2021. Additionally, Marcus is the Vice President of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists, a position they took up in 2021. Prior to their time at the University of Calgary, they worked as a Research Associate at the University of Toronto from 2004 to 2008.
Marcus Samuel completed their PhD in Plant Biotechnology from The University of British Columbia, where they attended from 1996 to 2002. Prior to their PhD, they obtained a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, though the exact dates of their enrollment are unknown.
