Sam De Backer is a highly experienced software development professional with a background in software engineering, data engineering, and architecture. Currently serving as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer since April 2020, Sam focuses on the development of applications for the Vlaamse Overheid. As the owner of iReact since February 2014, expertise encompasses Scala, Akka, Play, and big data technologies such as Spark. Previous roles include data engineering at DPG Media IT, where Sam developed DataMarts for targeted marketing, and senior engineering positions at 4C Insights and CGI. Sam holds a Master in Computer Science from KU Leuven and has contributed to various technical projects throughout a career spanning from 2000 to the present.
