Cat Birch has worked in the retail industry since 1999. Cat began their career as a Product Manager at Moss in 1999. In 2001, they became a GM and Vintage Buyer at Polo Ralph Lauren. In 2011, they moved to Fab.com as a Director of Sourcing and Product Development and a Buyer for Furniture, Lighting and Outdoor. In 2014, they joined Reissued as VP Merchandising, and the same year they became Director of Merchandising and Product Development at Heartwork, INC. In 2015, they were appointed Vice President of Merchandising and Brand Strategy at Muntech Products Inc. In 2016, they became Director Retail at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed VP Brand Partnerships at Afternoon Light.

Cat Birch attended Pratt Institute from 1994 to 1998, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Painting & Photography. In 1997, they attended the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam for Photography. Cat also took additional coursework in Fashion and Graphic Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
