Andrew Ridout

Senior Director, Engineering at Aforza

Andrew Ridout has over 10 years of professional work experience. In 2019, they joined Aforza as Senior Director of Engineering, where they were responsible for all Cloud and Web based engineering and led two engineering teams. Andrew designed and built Aforza's multi-tenant, microservice architecture running on Google Cloud Platform, using Docker and Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine). Andrew also developed Node.js microservice applications using Nest.js framework, configured and deployed Istio service mesh to Kubernetes clusters, and developed robust CI/CD processes.

From 2015-2019, Andrew worked at Web.com as Manager of Software Engineering, where they lead a team of 7 software engineers and designed and built a loosely-coupled, highly-scalable cloud-based data ingestion engine for Web.com's real estate platform. Andrew also designed and built backend microservice architecture, implemented RESTful APIs, and developed internal-facing dashboards.

From 2009-2015, Andrew worked at CGI (formerly Logica) as a Software Developer, Service Leader, and Service Consultant. During this time, they developed Windows 8.1 Store Apps (WinRT) using C# and XAML, as well as websites using ASP.

Andrew Ridout obtained their BSc in Computer Science from Cardiff University between 2006 and 2009. Prior to that, they attended St. David's 6th Form College from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained their A-Level in Computing, Business Studies, and Statistics. In 2016, they obtained a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance. Additionally, in 2011, they obtained an ITIL v3 Foundation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
