Tim Kauffman is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in media relations and journalism. Currently serving as the Media Relations Specialist for the American Federation of Government Employees since August 2010, Tim leads external public relations for the largest union representing federal employees in D.C. Prior to this role, Tim was a Senior Writer at Federal Times for 11 years, focusing on federal facilities management, procurement of green products, and environmental stewardship, while also establishing the infrastructure and asset management beat. Earlier career experiences include serving as a staff writer and weekend city editor at Morning News and a staff writer and photographer at The Index-Journal. Tim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of South Carolina and furthered education at Northern Virginia Community College.
