Michelle Baran has a long and varied work experience. Michelle began their career in 2004 at Conde Nast as a Senior Editor for Footwear News. In 2007, they moved to Travel Weekly as a Senior Editor. In 2011, they began writing for Budget Travel. In 2016, they became a Co-Author for Frommers Travel Guides. Finally, in 2018, they joined Afar Media as a Travel News Editor and was later promoted to Senior Travel News Editor.

Michelle Baran holds a Masters in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a Bachelors in Anthropology and French from UCLA.
