Joseph Bourne is a Senior Autonomy Engineer at AeroVironment, where efforts are concentrated on the research and commercial development of various autonomous capabilities including SLAM, precision landing, visual servo, and collision avoidance since June 2020. Previous experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Utah from August 2015 to June 2020, focusing on the development of an aerial robot system for sensing chemical distributions. Additionally, Joseph worked as a Lab Researcher at the University of Utah Radiation Lab, where responsibilities included developing research proposals and constructing finite element models. Early in the career, Joseph gained practical skills during a Mechanical Engineer Internship at CodeCorp, involving product testing and proficiency in SolidWorks. Joseph holds a PhD in Robotics and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of Utah.
