Roman Heimgartner began their work experience as an Intern in Microengineering at Asulab SA, The Swatch Group R&D in 2015. Roman then became a Research Scholar in the Spinal Cord Repair Laboratory at EPFL from 2015 to 2016, during which time they also served as a Teaching Assistant in Physics, Analysis, and Informatics. In 2017, Heimgartner joined the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences as a Visiting Graduate Student in the Harvard Biodesign Laboratory, and later became a Research Fellow from 2017 to 2018. Roman is currently working as the Data Analytics and ML Lead at AELER Technologies SA, starting from May 2018.
Roman Heimgartner completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Life Sciences at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2011 to 2015. Roman then pursued further education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Bioengineering from 2015 to 2017.
