Maryellen Laird currently serves as Chief Engineer at Adient, a position held since November 2016, following nearly 28 years at Johnson Controls where Laird also held the role of Chief Engineer. Throughout a distinguished career, Laird has provided Requirements Engineering expertise in seat product development, managed large teams of engineers and designers, and ensured compliance with OEM specifications and government regulations. Previous responsibilities included overseeing profitability for significant seating programs and leading Comfort Engineering initiatives in a specialized testing laboratory. Laird began the career as a Research Associate at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, where multiple research projects on automotive safety and ergonomics were executed. Laird holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Michigan State University.
