Alex Redwood is the current Head of Design for Additive Manufacturing at Additive Industries. Alex has held this position for 2 years. Prior to that, they were with HiETA Technologies Ltd for 5 years and 6 months, where they started as a Design Engineer and eventually became the Head of Design. Alex's responsibilities at HiETA Technologies included design and analysis of Additive Manufacturing components to customer requirements, understanding and controlling impact of machine parameters on design conformance, validation of components through physical test, interfacing with customers and providing design guidance to junior team members. Alex was also the Lead Engineer on R&D projects looking to develop new materials and products, responsible for financial and technical quality of the projects, leading team members, controlling budgets, holding design reviews and suggesting areas of future investment. In addition, they were responsible for business development activities, securing new contracts, bid support, attending and presenting at conferences.
Before joining HiETA Technologies Ltd, Alex Redwood worked as a Structural Design Engineer at Assystem UK for 2 years and 6 months. Prior to that, they did a Year in Industry Engineer placement at Atkins Aerospace for 1 year and 2 months. Alex also worked as a Court Attendant at Wimbledon Tennis Championships for 2 months.
Alex Redwood attended Swansea University, where they earned a Master of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. Alex also attended the University of Wales, Swansea, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering. Alex was captain of the university tennis team and was also active in the surf and snow sports societies.
