Donnie Adams

Software Architect at Acorn Labs

Donnie Adams has a diverse work experience, starting in 2016 as an Adjunct Faculty at Maricopa Community Colleges. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as a Dual Enrollment Instructor at Grand Canyon University and also as a Mathematics, Physics, and Programming Teacher at St. Mary's Catholic High School, where they developed a programming curriculum and played a key role in the school-wide house system.

In 2019, Donnie joined Acronis as a Software Developer, maintaining and implementing new features for a customer-facing product. Donnie transitioned the cloud component to a Kubernetes pod, improved logging, and established SLAs.

From 2018 to 2022, Donnie owned and programmed at Dadams solutions llc, where they built custom software solutions for clients using various technologies like Go, Python, Java, and PostgreSQL. Donnie developed a complete authentication backend using Go and PostgreSQL.

Donnie then joined SUSE in 2020 as a Senior Software Engineer, where they served as the Co-Tech Lead for v2 and RKE2 provisioning in Rancher, as well as implemented new features for EKS management. Donnie also maintained Docker images, CI pipelines, and helm charts for related projects.

In 2022, Donnie worked at Pryon as a Software Engineer, focusing on making the cloud infrastructure more performant and easier to manage. Donnie used Terraform to move the creation of GCP components away from Google Deployment Manager and split clusters into two to allow independent workflows.

Donnie also has experience in coaching. Donnie worked as the Head JV Boys Basketball Coach at Hawken School and served as the Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at St. Mary's Catholic High School from 2017 to 2021.

Most recently, Donnie joined Acorn Labs in 2023 as a Staff Software Engineer.

Donnie Adams pursued their education in mathematics, starting with a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University from 2004 to 2008. Following this, they went on to earn a Master of Science degree from the same institution, studying from 2008 to 2010. Donnie then continued their academic journey at Arizona State University, where they began their Ph.D. in Mathematics in 2010. However, it appears that Donnie did not complete their Ph.D. as they are listed as having completed all coursework but not the dissertation. Donnie'stime at Arizona State University extended from 2010 to 2018.
