Saffron Howden is an experienced journalism professional currently serving as the National Editorial Training Manager at ACM since July 2021, where coordination of editorial training for over 600 staff and oversight of the regional journalism traineeship program are key responsibilities. As the Co-founder and Editor of Crinkling News, established in January 2016, Saffron has contributed significantly to media literacy and junior journalism programs in Australia. A former Teaching Fellow with the Google News Initiative from May 2019 to April 2020, Saffron trained numerous journalists in digital news-gathering, emphasizing regional and rural news. Previous journalism roles include positions at The Sydney Morning Herald, The Northern Star, The Daily Telegraph, and Australian Associated Press. Currently, Saffron is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Media Literacy at the University of Canberra.
