Rocío Ortega

Communications Strategist/writer at ACLU SoCal

Rocío Ortega is an accomplished communications strategist and writer with extensive experience in advocacy and program management across various international organizations. Currently serving at ACLU SoCal since August 2021, Rocío manages written content and creates advocacy reports in both English and Spanish. Previously, Rocío held the position of Senior Program Officer at Partners of the Americas, overseeing a USAID-funded project focused on education for Colombian returnees and Venezuelan refugee children. Additional roles include Graduate Research Assistant at Georgetown University, Consultant for Save the Children International on gender equality issues, and Senior Associate at the United Nations Foundation, where Rocío implemented youth leadership programs globally. Rocío's academic background includes a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Latin American Studies from Wellesley College.
