Laura McKaughan's work experience includes serving as the Sustainability Programs Manager at Alameda County Industries since 2021. Prior to this role, they were the President of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Board of Directors at the California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) from 2016 to 2021. Within CRRA, Laura also served as the Technical Council Liaison and was involved in activities and webinars for the organization's membership and larger community.

Before joining CRRA, Laura was the Founder and Owner of Envirolutions Consulting since 2014, where they specialized in Zero Waste and sustainability consulting for various clients including private industry, government, and non-profit organizations.
