Ulrik Sørensen has a long and varied work experience. Ulrik began their career in 1995 as a Research Scientist at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, UK. In 1998, they moved to Eli Lilly in Indianapolis. In 2000, they became a Postdoc at Novartis in Basel. From 2002-2007, they worked at NeuroSearch A/S, where they held the positions of Project Director, Head of Medicinal Chemistry, and Research Scientist. In 2007, they were promoted to Project Manager at NeuroSearch. From 2011-2016, they were the COO and Co-Founder, and then CEO and Co-Founder of Acesion Pharma, where they raised over 100 million DKK. Since 2019, they have been the CEO of Ankrin Therapeutics, a biotech start-up developing first-in-class drugs for cancer treatment.
Ulrik Sørensen completed a High School degree at Skanderborg Amtsgymnasium in 1988. Ulrik then attended Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark from 1990 to 1996, where they earned an MSc in Chemistry and Business Administration. Ulrik then went on to Danmarks Farmaceutiske Universitet, where they obtained a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 2000. Finally, they attended Copenhagen Business School from 2010 to 2012, earning a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with a focus on Organization and Management.
