Maria's role as Senior Vice President of Program Services & Innovation (PSI) is to develop and oversee a programmatic strategy and aligned services that enable the design, adoption, implementation and adaptation of Inc. created education, family engagement, health, and data analytic tools and resources. She formerly served as the Senior Executive Director of the Early Childhood Teaching and Learning Team in New York City Public Schools. In that role, she led a central team of 200 staff members and coaches who worked on professional learning, curriculum, dual language, family childcare, and directly supported 3-K and pre-K teachers and school leaders in many settings - public schools, community based learning centers and Head Start programs. Maria is currently earning her doctorate in Leadership and Learning in Organizations at Vanderbilt University. She is also a fellow at Women InPower, a 92nd Street Y program that supports the elevation of women to the highest levels of leadership.
Maria is active in her community and has served two terms as an elected councilwoman in the Borough of Rutherford, NJ. As the first black woman elected to her role, she has been an advocate for civil rights, environmental protection, and historic preservation.
