Ryan Armstrong

Sr. Software Engineer at Accuray

Ryan Armstrong has a diverse range of work experience in the software engineering and research fields. Ryan is currently employed as a Software Engineer at Accuray since 2021. Before that, they worked at Epic as a Software Developer, where they played a significant role in maintaining and enhancing the core infrastructure of the SlicerDicer application. Additionally, they had the opportunity to meet with key customer stakeholders to gather their feedback and requirements.

Prior to Epic, Ryan worked at Prellis Biologics, Inc. as a Research Engineer, where they contributed to the development of a laser-based 3D bio-printing system. Ryan was also involved in the creation of hardware, software, CAD models, and integrated systems. During their time at Prellis Biologics, Ryan co-invented a patent related to printing vasculature and capillary beds. Before that, they interned as an Engineering Intern at the same company.

Ryan also gained valuable experience as a True Entrepreneur Corps Fellow at True Ventures, where they completed an engineering internship at Prellis Biologics and participated in seminars on entrepreneurship and venture capital investment. Ryan also interned as a Mechanical Systems Integration Intern at NASA and as a Mixing and Turbulence Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In addition, Ryan worked as a Research and Development Intern at Vaireco, contributing to the creation of highly accurate photogrammetric models for historic ship and building renovation. Ryan also served as a Microbiology Research Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and as a Biomedical Equipment Technician Intern at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College in Ethiopia.

Ryan's earliest work experience was as a Technical Editor and Curriculum Compiler at LearnZillion. Overall, their work experience reflects a strong background in software engineering, research, and hands-on technical roles in various industries.

Ryan Armstrong attended Mount Tabor High School from 2011 to 2015. After high school, from 2015 to 2020, Ryan Armstrong pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Additionally, in 2015, Ryan participated in the Alaskan Backpacking program at NOLS. Furthermore, in 2019, Ryan Armstrong took part in the Juneau Icefield Research Program, focusing on Glaciology and Mountaineering.
