Sandra Mamai has a diverse work experience in the field of data management and healthcare. Sandra started their career as a Health Information Clerk at Bungoma County Referral Hospital in 2015, and later worked as a Medical Records Clerk at the same hospital in 2016. Sandra then joined UC Global Programs for Research and Training, Mozambique as a Monitoring and Evaluation Intern, where they supported the analysis of HIV services data.
In 2017, Sandra joined Access Afya as a Medical Digitization Intern, where they digitized paper-based medical records and provided technical support for medical staff. Sandra also supported the development and implementation of medical records systems.
Sandra continued their journey at Access Afya and held the role of Data and Digitization Officer from 2019 to 2020. In this role, they performed clinical data quality audits and supported the implementation of digital health solutions. Sandra also conducted training programs for staff on electronic medical record systems.
In 2020, Sandra took on the role of Health Information Manager at Access Afya. In this position, they led the generation of clean data, conducted quality audits, and provided support to the programs team and internal departments. Sandra also turned data into actionable insights using statistical concepts and tools.
In 2021, Sandra was promoted to the role of Data Team Lead at Access Afya. In this role, they focused on data science strategy and innovation, ensuring the utilization of data assets and analytics to create additional value for the business. Sandra also led the data protection and privacy function and ensured adherence to policies and statutory guidelines.
In 2022, Sandra became a Board Member at African Queer Youth Initiative, where they served as the focal point on digital learning and technology use in education for queer communities. Sandra provided policy advice and technical assistance to organizations seeking to introduce technologies in their educational systems.
Prior to their role at Access Afya, Sandra worked as a Data Assistant at FHI 360 from 2018 to 2019.
