Brian Sparling has had a varied work experience. In 2020, they joined Accent Therapeutics, Inc. as an Associate Director and Principal Scientist. Prior to this, they worked at Amgen from 2013 to 2020 as a Senior Scientist and Scientist. In 2007, they were an Oncology Chemistry Intern at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. From 2004 to 2007, they were a Graduate Student at Harvard University, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, where they worked on total synthesis of bioactive terpenoids, culminating in the enantioselective total synthesis of hyperforin and related polyprenylated polycyclic acylphloroglucinols. Prior to this, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Human Resources Intern at Siemens Mobile, Boca Raton, FL.

Brian Sparling completed their PhD in Organic Chemistry from Harvard University in 2013. Prior to that, they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Course 5 degree in Chemistry.
