Tammy L Madsen

President-elect at Academy of Management

Tammy L Madsen has a diverse and extensive work experience. Tammy L is currently a Vice President at the Academy of Management and has been serving as Vice President-Elect since 2022.

Prior to their current position, Tammy worked at Santa Clara University where they held various roles including W. M. Keck Foundation Chair & Professor of Strategy & Innovation, Professor of Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and Associate Dean of the Leavey School of Business. Tammy L also served as an Associate Professor of Strategy & Roelandts Fellow and a Roelandt's Fellow at the Center for Science, Technology & Society.

Tammy has also been involved with the GInI - Global Innovation Institute as a Member of the Board of Advisors since 2020. Additionally, they have served on the Board of Governors of the Academy of Management, an organization with 20,000 members, since 2018. Tammy L previously chaired the Business Policy & Strategy Division of the Academy of Management in 2010-2011.

Before joining academia, Tammy worked as a Mechanical Design Engineer & Program Manager at Delco Electronics, General Motors. Tammy L also taught as an Assistant Professor of Strategy at Southern Methodist University.

In addition to their professional experience, Tammy has been part of the Fulbright BEST Program as a Faculty member teaching Technology & Entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, Tammy served as the Chair of the Management Department at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University from 2007 to 2010. The department was responsible for providing core courses in various programs and executive education.

Overall, Tammy L Madsen has a rich and diverse background in academia, leadership roles, and industry experience.

Tammy L Madsen holds a PhD in Strategy & Organization, Management (with distinction) from UCLA Anderson School of Management. Prior to obtaining their PhD, they completed an MS in Management from the University of Southern California. Tammy also earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.
