Garrett Hopp has been working in the software engineering field since 2011. Garrett began their career as an R&D Software Engineer at Keysight Technologies, Inc., where they worked on internal web application development, Windows server administration, SQL Server administration, maintaining and extending the group's test executive application, writing and maintaining tests, and analyzing and cataloguing test results. In 2016, they moved to World Wide Technology as a Senior Software Engineer, and in 2022 they transitioned to Academia.edu as a Senior Software Engineer.

Garrett Hopp attended Whitworth University from 2007 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science.
