Felipe Melo has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Felipe has worked as a Principal Engineer in AI/Big Data/Architecture at Absa Group since September 2022, where they have been instrumental in developing a unified, cloud-based MLOps platform for Everyday Banking. Prior to this role, they were a Tech Lead in ML/DS/Big Data at Absa Group from January 2020 to October 2022, where they played a key role in driving the organization towards becoming data-driven. Additionally, Felipe has experience as a Lead Big Data Engineer at Absa Group and Senior Big Data Engineer at Barclays Investment Bank, supporting both organizations in their data-centric initiatives. Felipe also has experience as a CTO/Partner at SoundView Ltda., where they bridged business requirements with technical development, and as a Software Engineering Consultant at Fundação Gorceix/Petrobras, where they devised solutions for parsing and mining unstructured data. Felipe has also held roles as a Technical Lead/Software Architect at Idealize Labs, a Professor at Universidade Presidente Antônio Carlos, a Co-Founder at Classificados Achaki, a Junior Mobile Developer at Meritia, and an Intern at Consell Comarcall del Maresme. Felipe's early career includes working as a Junior Software Developer at Clique Seguro, where they were involved in providing security features for internet banking. Overall, Felipe has had extensive experience in various domains and technologies, including AI, ML, DS, Big Data, software engineering, and architecture.

Felipe Melo holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from UFOP - Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto, which they completed from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computing Engineering from Centro Universitário Presidente Antônio Carlos - UNIPAC, graduating from 2002 to 2006. In addition to their formal education, Felipe has also earned several certifications, including leading strategic projects from University of Oxford, deep learning from Coursera, Ethereum developer certification from B9lab and ConsenSys Academy, and IELTS General Training from the British Council.
