Stephen Cournane is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in product development and research within the medical device industry. Currently serving as a Senior Product Development Engineer at Abiomed since January 2023, Stephen has previously held significant roles at Edwards Lifesciences from December 2017 to December 2022, including Senior R&D Director and Distinguished Engineer. Earlier career highlights include positions as Senior R&D Engineer at Harpoon Medical until its acquisition by Edwards, and as Senior Product Development Engineer at Dynasplint Systems. Stephen's foundational experience in engineering began at Boston Scientific and Stryker Orthopaedics. Academically, Stephen holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Limerick, a Certificate in Medical Sciences from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and qualifications as a Chartered Engineer from the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, alongside a Black Belt in Six Sigma from Edwards Lifesciences.
