Amanda Nicholl

Lead Project Manager at Abingdon Health

Amanda Nicholl has extensive work experience in the field of assay development and project management.

Starting in 1996, they worked as a placement student at Water Ancillaries Ltd, where they managed a small in-house laboratory, conducted microbiological tests on water and fuel samples, and performed quality control analyses on in-house chemicals.

In 2003, Nicholl joined the Hearing Research Group at the University of Sheffield as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, where they conducted research in the field of hearing.

From 2005 to 2006, they worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Jack Birch Unit for Molecular Carcinogenesis at the University of York, focusing on molecular carcinogenesis.

In 2007, Nicholl joined Pro-Cure Therapeutics Ltd as a Senior Scientist. Their responsibilities included line management of a project team, design and implementation of projects for target validation in prostate cancer stem cells, and project management of multiple programs.

From 2013 to 2015, Nicholl worked at Cytox Limited as a Senior Development Scientist, where they led technical activities related to the development and validation of assays.

In 2016, they joined Avacta as a Senior Assay Development Scientist. Amanda gradually built and managed an assay development team, and successfully developed several ELISA assays.

In 2019, Nicholl was promoted to Principal Assay Scientist at Avacta. In this role, they provided technical oversight and management to the Assay Team, and was involved in the development and validation of SARS-CoV-2 antigen LFT and ELISA assays.

Their most recent position, starting in 2022, is with Abingdon Health plc as a Lead Project Manager.

Amanda Nicholl completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from The University of Huddersfield in 1998. Amanda then pursued further education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Volume regulation in Human Cancer Cells from the same university, completing their research between 1998 and 2001.
