Pete Cariveau has over 20 years of work experience in the engineering field. Pete began their career at Smith International in 1993 as a Project Engineer for Mining Products, where they developed roller cone drill bit products for the mining industry. Pete continued to work at Smith International, taking on roles such as Project Engineer in Research & Development and Manager of PDC Drill Bit Research and Development. During this time, they developed new seal designs and filed patents for seal designs and conducted studies on weld failure in steel components.
In 2006, Cariveau joined Smith International-Megadiamond as the Director of Engineering, where they led a team in the development of ultrahard materials technology, specifically focusing on shear cutter PDC diamond cutters. Pete organized IP filings for new advances in process methods and material design.
In 2010, Cariveau moved to Schlumberger as the Dyna-Drill Director of Research & Development. Here, they managed the research and development of materials and coatings used in down-hole mud motor systems. Pete also led a team in the design of HPHT elastomer materials and organized IP filings for new product innovations.
In 2014, Cariveau joined Expro as the Product Line Engineering Manager, responsible for the management of cased hole tool products. Pete led a diverse team in the development, sustaining, maintenance, and repair of these products, specifically focusing on telemetry, electronics, optics, and mechanical components.
Pete'smost recent position is Vice President of Engineering at Abaco Drilling Technologies, which they began in 2015.
Pete Cariveau pursued their education at Oklahoma State University, where they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1988 to 1991. Pete then progressed to undertake a Master's Program in Mechanical Engineering, also at Oklahoma State University, from 1991 to 1993.
