Dena Bunis is a seasoned communications professional with extensive experience in writing and editing. Currently serving as a Senior Writer/Editor/Producer at AARP since June 2017, Dena previously held the position of Chief Speechwriter and Senior Communications Advisor at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management from November 2013 to January 2017, where responsibilities included crafting speeches and communications on complex policy matters. Dena has also worked as Managing Editor at CQ HealthBeat and as Washington Bureau Chief for the Orange County Register, focusing on immigration policy, legislation, and politics. Earlier career roles include reporting at Newsday/New York Newsday, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, and Daily Star, covering topics ranging from labor issues to education and health care. Dena holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Newspaper Journalism and Political Science from Syracuse University.
