Amber Talburt

Senior Director, Grants at AARP Foundation

Amber Talburt has a diverse range of work experience. Amber started their career in 2000 as a Youth Development Specialist at the YMCA of Greater Boston, where they planned and implemented youth development programs and family programs. Amber then worked at the United Way of King County as a Loaned Executive, providing information and assistance for workplace giving campaigns. In 2004, they joined the American Cancer Society as a Community Initiatives Director, overseeing statewide programs focusing on tobacco prevention and control and worksite wellness.

Amber Talburt then worked at the Humboldt Area Foundation - Wild Rivers Community Foundation, where they held various roles such as Hub Coordinator, Learning and Evaluation Specialist, Hub Manager, and eventually Hub Director. Amber managed grants and implemented initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of Del Norte County and the Adjacent Tribal Lands.

Currently, Amber Talburt is working at AARP Foundation as the Senior Director of Grants. Amber is responsible for the multi-million-dollar grant program, ensuring compliance, and managing grant performance data. Amber has held various roles within the organization, including Director, Grants; Senior Grants Manager, Monitoring and Compliance; and Grant Program and Compliance Advisor.

Amber Talburt received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education from Arizona State University between 1995 and 1999. Amber then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) degree with a focus on Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the University of Washington from 2001 to 2003.
