Heather S.

Program Manager, Child Safety, Health And Wellness at AAP

Heather S. has over 14 years of work experience, primarily with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Heather started their career at AAP in 2007 as a Safety and Health Promotion Assistant, where they provided programmatic support to safety and health promotion initiatives. Heather also served on the social media workgroup and led marketing and communications activities.

In 2009, Heather became a Program Coordinator for the National Center for Medical Home Implementation, where they managed the Medical Home Resident Education Initiative project and provided programmatic support to the center. Heather continued to direct marketing and communications activities, including social media, webinars, newsletters, and website design.

In 2013, Heather transitioned to the role of Pediatric Practice & Health Care Delivery Coordinator. In this position, they administered financial and budgeting activities and provided programmatic support to the Campaign for Dental Health. Heather also continued to lead marketing and communications activities.

Starting in 2019, Heather became a Child Safety, Health and Wellness Specialist, where they managed the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Course and supervised school health priority workgroups. Heather directed marketing and communications activities, including social media, video production/editing, webinars, newsletter development, and website design.

Most recently, Heather has taken on the role of Program Manager, Child Safety, Health and Wellness at AAP. In this position, they manage the Committee on Pediatric and Adolescent HIV (COPAH) and the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Training Course. Heather also oversees grants related to managing infectious diseases in schools and enhancing school mental health through TEAMS. Additionally, Heather directs marketing and communications activities, including social media, video production/editing, virtual education/events, and website design.

Outside of AAP, Heather briefly worked as a Human Resources Coordinator at SUZOHAPP in 2006 and as a Temp in Developmental Pediatrics and Preventive Services at AAP in 2005.

Heather S. holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing from Capella University. Heather has attained additional certifications, including "Confronting Bias: Thriving Across Our Differences" and "Unconscious Bias," from LinkedIn in April 2022 and January 2022, respectively.
