Amir Afzali currently serves as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Aalo Atomics, a position held since December 2023. Prior to this role, Amir was the Chief Executive Officer at Nuclear Consulting Group, where the focus was on nuclear regulatory and policy consulting to promote environmental responsibility and health safety in clean energy. Amir has extensive experience at Southern Company Services and Southern Nuclear Operating Company, directing policy and licensing for next-generation reactors, while fostering collaboration between federal agencies, industry stakeholders, and research communities. Previous roles include Risk-Informed Engineering Director at Southern Nuclear Company and Risk-Informed Applications Supervisor at Dominion Virginia Power. Amir began their career at Pacific Gas and Electric Company and Scienech/NUS, contributing to the growth and strategic direction of various groups. Amir holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park.
