Diane also pursued their Ph.D. at Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where they worked as a Ph.D. Candidate in the Laboratory of Tian Xu, Department of Genetics. Their thesis focused on the activation of Hippo signaling through the repression of Dachs, specifically studying a novel complementation group of mutations that cooperate with oncogenic Ras to produce "cyst-like" tumor formation in Drosophila. This role lasted from August 2014 to May 2020.
Before their Ph.D., Diane gained research experience during their undergraduate studies. Diane worked as an Undergraduate Researcher in the Laboratory of Dr. Paul Schedl, Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University, where they studied germ cell migration in Drosophila melanogaster embryos from March 2013 to May 2014. Diane also worked in the Laboratory of Dr. Jacques Fresco, Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. Their research focused on finding evidence for the role of depurination sites in promoting genetic diversity from June 2012 to August 2012.
Diane also participated in the Princeton in Beijing program at Princeton University, where they engaged in intensive Chinese language immersion and study from June 2011 to August 2011.
During their undergraduate studies, Diane worked as an SAT Tutor at Top Test Prep from August 2013 to May 2014.
