Richard Van Der Bijl is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in balance sheet management and corporate finance. Currently serving as Balance Sheet Manager at ASR since October 2023, Richard previously held the same title at Aegon Nederland from June 2022 to October 2023. Prior to that, Richard was the Director of M&A at Riparian Advisory (Pty) Ltd, overseeing end-to-end transaction management from March 2020 to April 2022. Richard's foundational experience includes roles at Hollard Insurance, where responsibilities encompassed corporate finance and balance sheet management, and significant positions within Hollard Employees Pension and Provident Funds as Trustee and Chairman of various subcommittees. Richard's academic credentials include Fellowships in Investments from the Actuarial Society of South Africa and degrees in Actuarial Science and Statistics from the University of the Witwatersrand.
