Tom Adams has a diverse work experience spanning across various organizations. Tom has been the Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at 60 Decibels since April 2019. In this role, they have helped the company become a tech-enabled impact measurement company working with social change-makers worldwide.
Prior to that, Tom served as a Guest Lecturer at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford from June 2018. Tom has also been a Trustee at Hello World since January 2016.
Their significant contribution was as the Chief Impact Officer at Acumen from January 2013 to March 2019. During their tenure, they originated the concept of Lean Data for the social sector and built it into a profitable business line. Lean Data is widely recognized as an innovative approach to impact measurement in the social sector. This business line was later spun out into 60 Decibels.
Before joining Acumen, Tom worked at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Tom served as the Head of the Private Sector Development and Climate Change Team from September 2011 to January 2013 and as a Country Economist from September 2008 to September 2011.
Tom has also held positions as an Economic Advisor at the Government Equalities Office from September 2006 to August 2008, and as an Economist at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (UK) from October 2003 to September 2005.
Tom's first professional experience was as an Analyst at Credit Suisse from December 2002 to October 2003.
Tom Adams completed their BSc in Economics and Econometrics at the University of Nottingham from 1999 to 2002. Following that, they pursued an MSc in Development Economics at SOAS University of London from 2005 to 2006.
