Sam Verbanic has a diverse work experience in the scientific research field. They are currently working at 4D Molecular Therapeutics as a Scientist II, a position they started in September 2022. Prior to that, they held a Scientist I - R&D role at the same company from August 2021 to September 2022.

Before joining 4D Molecular Therapeutics, Sam worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles from March 2020 to August 2021.

Their earlier experience includes a role as a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Santa Barbara from September 2015 to March 2020. During this time, they also served as a Teaching Assistant from September 2015 to January 2016.

Sam's professional journey began at Vassar College, where they had two roles. They started as an Organic Chemistry Laboratory Intern in August 2013 and continued in this position until May 2015. Additionally, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant from August 2012 to May 2015, conducting independent research projects and collaborating with professors Zachary Donhauser and Christopher Smart.

Sam Verbanic completed their Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry at Vassar College from 2011 to 2015. Following that, they pursued further education at UC Santa Barbara and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, which spanned from 2015 to 2020.
