Lewis Buckley has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Lewis started their career in 2010 as a Systems Support Analyst at Dawn Group. In 2011, they co-founded Advertar and served as the CTO, responsible for developing innovative services and creating a GPS tracking solution. From 2011 to 2012, they also worked as a Full Stack Developer at their own company, Lewis Buckley Limited, where they met with clients, assessed requirements, and developed applications using Ruby on Rails.
In 2014, Buckley joined Podcast Chart as a Ruby on Rails Developer, contributing to the development of the platform until 2016. Following that, they worked as a Ruby on Rails contractor at Entropy Labs, leading a team of developers and working on major client projects. During this time, they developed an API client gem in Ruby, a WordPress to Rails migration tool, and added new features to existing projects.
In 2016, Buckley joined Environment Agency as a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer, and in 2017, they became a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer at FreeAgent. At FreeAgent, they integrated the company's sign-up flow and bank feed feature with systems developed by RBSG, leading to RBSG's acquisition of FreeAgent.
From 2018 to 2019, Buckley worked as a Senior Ruby Web Developer at Cookpad, where they led the development of a new feed architecture using Ruby, Kafka, and Redis, and was also involved in organizing and occasionally speaking at the South West Ruby meetup.
Starting from 2019, they joined BiggerPockets as a Senior Application Engineer and later became the Tech Lead. In this role, they were responsible for discovering problems and delivering solutions, leveraging data to drive key SaaS business metrics.
Most recently, in 2021, Buckley joined 37signals as a Programmer.
Lewis Buckley attended Coleg Sir Gar from 2005 to 2007, where they studied IT. During their time at this institution, they did not pursue a degree. Additionally, Lewis received training from Magirus Training, although specific details regarding the field of study and duration are not provided.
In terms of certifications, Lewis obtained the VHF SRC certification from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in February 2023. Prior to this, they obtained the Powerboat Level 2 certification from the same institution in September 2018. Although their education history does not include any obtained months or years for their ND for ICT Practitioners certification, it was obtained through BTEC.
