Marc Deshusses is currently the Co-founder and Head of Technology at 374Water, a US-based cleantech and social impact company focused on commercializing a waste treatment and resource recovery technology. Prior to this role, they have been a Professor at Duke University since 2008, where they are involved in various programs and institutes related to civil, environmental, and energy engineering. Before joining Duke University, Deshusses was a Professor and Chair at the University of California, Riverside from 1994 to 2008. Marc'sresearch interests revolve around the design and optimization of remediation, waste to energy, and decentralized sanitation processes.
Marc Deshusses earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 1990. Subsequently, they pursued a Ph.D. in Technical Sciences with a specialization in Environmental Biotechnology from ETHZ & EAWAG, which they completed in 1994.
