Debbie Alexander currently serves as the Director of Business Development at 23andMe, a position held since January 2017. Previously, from June 2009 to December 2016, Debbie worked at the University of California, San Francisco as the Assistant Director of Licensing, managing a substantial portfolio of over 350 faculty inventions and negotiating more than 100 licenses in various technical fields. Earlier experience includes serving as a Scientific Curator at the Carnegie Institution for Science, where Debbie curated Arabidopsis research papers and addressed user inquiries. Additionally, Debbie held a postdoctoral research associate role focused on Arabidopsis thaliana under the supervision of Kathy Barton. Debbie's career began as an Assistant Project Manager at Raleigh International. Debbie holds a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Plant Sciences from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Durham University.
