Jen Bekman has over 20 years of work experience. Jen began their career in 1994 as the Cruise Director for New York Online. Jen then moved on to become the Senior Manager of Community Development for Netscape in 1998. In 1999, they became the Director of Interactive Programming for Disney/GO Networks. In 2000, they were the Chief Creative Officer for Earthnoise. From 2002 to 2005, they were the VP of User Development for Meetup. During this time, they also founded Personism in 2005, unbeige.com in 2005, and Hey, Hot Shot! in 2005. In 2003, they founded the Jen Bekman Gallery, and in 2007, they founded 20x200 | Jen Bekman Projects.

Jen Bekman attended Stuyvesant High School from 1983 to 1987. Jen then attended Hunter College from 1987 to 1991, studying Creative Writing. In 2017, they earned a Certificate of Achievement from Stanford University's Impact Program for Arts Leaders (IPAL).
