Guangxi Wu, Ph.D.

Scientist (bioinformatics, microbiome) at Zymo Research

Guangxi Wu, Ph.D. has accumulated a wealth of experience in the field of bioinformatics and microbiome research. From 2004 to 2006, they were a research assistant at Fudan University, where they studied the interaction between glucose transporter 1 and Band 3 in erythrocytes using protein expression in E. coli, protein purification, and pull-down assay. From 2006 to 2009, they were a graduate assistant at Michigan State University, where they studied the evolution of gene families in green algal lineage in the context of stress response by combining phylogenetic data and RNA-seq expression datasets. In 2005, they were a research assistant at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Genome Institute of Singapore, where they investigated the dandruff-causing Malassezia fungi using comparative genomics and metagenomics approaches. From 2015 to 2016, they were an ORISE Fellow at the USDA-ARS. Finally, from 2018 to present, they have been a Scientist at Zymo Research Corp, where they work in the fields of bioinformatics and microbiome.

Guangxi Wu, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Fudan University between 2002 and 2006. Guangxi then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University, which they completed in 2013.
