Joan Capdevila, PhD, is a Data Science Manager at ZOE, overseeing the Science and Scoring team since September 2018, where the focus is on transforming nutritional science into personalized advice for members. Previously, Joan led the Data Science team for the ZOE COVID Study, analyzing real-world data from over 4.7 million users to uncover COVID-19 symptoms and vaccine effectiveness. Joan began at ZOE as a Data Scientist, contributing to glucose and triglyceride prediction models and publishing significant research in Nature Medicine. Prior to ZOE, experience included a role as a Machine Learning Research Associate at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Accenture. Joan holds a PhD in Machine Learning from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, along with various research and academic accolades from Monash University and Georgia Institute of Technology.
