Rajiv Chopra has over forty years of experience in the energy and power industry. Rajiv began their career in 1973 as a Project Manager and Senior Engineer at ABB (ASEA) in New Delhi, India, where they were responsible for sales, application engineering and project management of electric power systems, BOP for power plants and substation (AIS and GIS) and station switchgear for generating and power transmission and distribution utilities. In 1981, they moved to ABB (ASEA) in Vasteras, Sweden, as a Project Manager for Power Systems, where they were responsible for application engineering, marketing, sales and coordination of engineering and design of turnkey power systems projects (FACTS) worldwide, with a primary focus on Australia and South Asia. From 1986 to 1992, they were the Business Development Manager at ABB Power Systems Inc., where they were responsible for all functions in current job, including project-engineering/management functions for FACTS Projects with focus on SVCs for industrial and electric utility applications in the USA and around the world. In 2004, they were promoted to Business Development Manager at Alstom Grid, and in 2008 they became Unit Managing Director, responsible for P&L of the unit in Philadelphia and for all the functions of the unit from securing the business to successful completion of projects. In 2011, they were promoted to Director Business Development Power Electronics North America at Alstom Grid. In 2017, they left Alstom Grid to become Co-founder & CSOO of Ziplyne.
Rajiv Chopra completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from NIIT, Jaipur, India in 1973. Rajiv then went on to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and International Management from NYU Stern School of Business, which they completed in 1991.
