Kathryn Upson is an experienced professional in the shipping and energy sectors, currently serving as Vice President of Partnerships & Strategic Implementation at bp since July 2005. Kathryn has held various key roles at bp, including Global Specialty Chartering & Bunkering Senior Manager, Strategy Manager, and Naphtha Trader. Currently, Kathryn is an Advisory Board Member at the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping and a Board Member at BP Shipping, where Kathryn also co-chairs the ShipHER initiative aimed at fostering equal opportunities within the shipping organization. Kathryn served as Board Chair at Energy LEAP from January 2019 to April 2022, focusing on efficiency in crude oil transaction processing. Previous experience includes positions as a Naphtha Trader at Cargill, Operator & Junior Trader at Marc Rich International Ltd, Operations at Phibro LLC, and Graduate Trainee at Maersk Line, Limited. Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Science in Geography from UCL & Paris IV (Sorbonne), and has advanced education credentials from INSEAD and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.
