David Kirtley is the Founder and CEO of Helion Energy, a position held since 2010, where responsibilities include directing the vision for future prototypes and leading fusion operations while building a diverse team. Kirtley is also a member of YPO since 2023. Prior experience includes serving as Principal Investigator and Fusion Lead at MSNW from 2008 to 2017, managing a diverse team for various technologies, and directing fundraising and product development for advanced space propulsion systems. Kirtley's earlier roles include research scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory, graduate student researcher at the University of Michigan Plasmadynamics Laboratory, and electrical engineer at Red River Engineering. Education includes a PhD and multiple Master's degrees in Aerospace and Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan.
