John Slade has had a diverse range of work experience in the software engineering field. John started their career at QinetiQ as a Software Engineer from October 2005 to September 2009. John then moved on to Thales e-Security, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Architect from September 2009 to March 2014. During their time at Thales e-Security, they developed network security products using C/C++ and UML, introduced Python for testing frameworks and build systems, and was responsible for the architecture of a complex multi-processor embedded system. In 2014, they joined Samsung Electronics as a Senior Software Engineer for six months before joining YouView TV Limited as a Lead Software Engineer, where they are currently working.

John Slade completed their high school education at Brentwood School, graduating in the year 2001. John then pursued their undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of York from 2001 to 2005, earning their MEng. After that, they attended the University of Bath from 2006 to 2009, where they obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Management.
