AltaMed's Youth Champions program began in 2017 with a vision to create a transformative educational experience that helps students navigate adulthood, amplify their successes, and positively impact their communities. The organization has since grown into a paid educational internship program that has served over 1,000 students in the Los Angeles area.  Through a course involving 24 virtual workshops and 6 in-person field trips, we cover essential developmental skills and knowledge that are not typically covered in traditional school settings. The Youth Champions program empowers high school students in grades 10th -12th to enhance their life skills, including leadership, communication, financial literacy, positive mindset, determination to work hard, and GRIT.
