Travis Acton has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Travis started their career as a Seasonal Sales Associate at Home Hardware Stores Limited, where they gained extensive experience working with the public and assisting customers with their projects. Travis continued to work during their college years, as a Technical Support Specialist Co-op at the University of New Brunswick, providing technical assistance to students and faculty members.
After college, Travis worked as a Social Media Marketing intern at the Charlotte Coastal Region Tourism Association, where they advertised tourist attractions and helped local businesses establish an online presence. Travis then worked as a Tour Guide at the Town of Saint Andrews, providing in-depth tours of a National Historic Site and maintaining its security.
Travis entered the IT field with a role as a Hardware Technician at Computers for Schools, where they tested and refurbished electronic equipment. Travis then gained experience as a Research Assistant at NBCC, where they contributed to research projects. Travis further expanded their skills as a Consultant - Practicum at CGI, working with .NET and Microsoft Azure Active Directory.
Travis joined the Government of New Brunswick as a Programmer Analyst, where they used the ESRI ArcGIS JavaScript API to create and maintain quality assurance GIS applications. Travis also built and maintained Java REST APIs using JAX-RS and Hibernate.
In their most recent role at Accreon, Travis worked as a Developer, where they developed modern responsive web applications using React, Redux, SCSS, and Java Spring Microservices. Travis proposed and integrated frontend solutions for challenging problems in a complex architecture and performed peer code reviews.
Currently, Travis works as a UI/UX Developer II at Patriot One Technologies Inc. Travis has implemented UI features, renovated the frontend codebase, and improved the user experience of their products. Travis has used React, Redux, and worked in an agile environment.
Travis Acton began their education in 2012, studying Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick. Travis completed their Bachelor of Information Systems degree in 2015. Following this, from 2015 to 2017, Travis attended NBCC (New Brunswick Community College), where they pursued a Programmer-Analyst program in the field of Information Technology.
