David Ittah

Senior Quantum Software Developer - Technical Lead at Xanadu

David Ittah has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. David currently works at Xanadu as a Quantum Software Developer - Technical Lead, where they lead the quantum compiler team and builds the next-generation compiler for quantum programming. Prior to this, they were a Quantum Software Developer at Xanadu, involved in developing and maintaining the PennyLane quantum computing framework and working on auto-differentiation methods for quantum programs.

Before joining Xanadu, David worked as a Technical Writer at Microsoft, where they gained experience in technical writing. David also completed a Master's Thesis at ETH Zürich, conducting research in quantum compiler intermediate representations (IRs) and achieving top marks and subsequent publication in an ACM journal.

During their time at ETH Zürich, David also worked as a Teaching Assistant, assisting in academic activities, and as a Student Researcher, conducting research in quantum circuit optimization using Hoare Logic.

In addition, David has a research background from McGill University, where they completed a Bachelor's Thesis in quantum machine learning and worked as a Research Assistant in designing radio astronomy instruments. David received two Summer Undergraduate Research Awards and was a speaker at the Quebec astrophysics conference 'CRAQ 2017 annual meeting'.

David Ittah completed their Master of Science degree in Physics at ETH Zürich from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics & Computer Science from McGill University between 2014 and 2018. In addition, David also acquired several certifications, including the IBM Quantum Challenge from IBM in May 2020, the Qiskit Advocate certification from IBM in October 2019, and the Proficiency in Amateur Radio - Basic with Honours certification from Industry Canada in July 2017.
