Michelle Gao has 25 years of work experience, starting in 1995 as Deputy General Manager at Arup. After 19 years at Arup, they joined Walmart as an HR Director in 2014. In 2017, Michelle Gao moved on to an Online Startup Company where they became an HRVP. Michelle then transitioned to Crabtree & Evelyn in 2018 as Global HR Director before joining Worm Safety in 2020 in the same role.

Michelle Gao's education history begins in 2004 when they attended Federation University Australia, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Business Administration and Management. From 2011 to 2013, they pursued their studies at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, where they completed a Master's degree in Business Administration (M.B.A.), specializing in Human Resources Management. In 2011, they also had the opportunity to study at the University of Cambridge, where they pursued a Master Module in Sustainability and HR.
