Nyka Alexander has extensive experience in communications, particularly within the health sector. Currently serving as Manager of Health Emergencies Communication at the World Health Organization since April 2016, Nyka leads the communications team for WHO's emergencies program and has previously acted as the Communications Team Lead. Notably, Nyka was the media lead for the Zika response in the Department of Communications. Prior roles include Communications Consultant at the Western Pacific Regional Office of WHO, where advocacy materials were developed for outbreak preparedness, and various communications roles at the Pan American Health Organization focused on strategic communication and crisis response. Nyka's earlier career includes positions as Executive Director of Marketing and Research with The Balloch Group and Economist at Scotiabank, along with research assistant roles at the Canadian Embassy and Trade Office. Nyka holds a Master of International Affairs in Security Policy from Columbia University, a Master’s in Journalism from Carleton University, and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Concordia University.
