Laurent Szymkowiak is an experienced financial investigations specialist currently employed by the World Customs Organization since May 2018. In addition to this role, Laurent acts as the Project Manager of Octagon and serves as a trainer for COPES at the Direction générale des douanes et droits indirects (DGDDI), where involvement dates back to February 1994 as an inspector of customs. Laurent has also worked as an Enforcement Expert with the European Union Intellectual Property Office from March 2019 to September 2023, focusing on the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights. Academic credentials include a Master’s degree in Financial Investigations at the University of Strasbourg from January 2023 to December 2023, along with training from the French National Academy of Customs and Excises.
